If you are giving a print of one of your photos to a friend or family member, and it is not matted or framed what do you do? I always feel conflicted. On the one hand I know this person would love to have the picture. I am not able to mat and frame every picture before I give it away. Then I think am I giving them a bill for however much it may cost them? Will they feel obligated to have it framed? What do others do in this situation?. I end up not giving the pics away as I wish I could.
other people are just too creative that they have their own idea on how variety of photos should be framed. they may cut on different angles of frames to fit the concept of the picture (well if they are hardworking enough because some lazy people even the pictures are framed are just too lazy to hang or display them right?) but if i am the one given, i wouldnt think its a burden to me i think its a freedom for me to decide on what color, shape or size would i frame the picture (specially when i like the picture)..in the end its better to give than to keep and let the bugs eat it..
I usually mat and have my prints in little plastic sleeves. I do a lot of art shows and I have mats cut to size and then put backing on them and package them myself. f you don't want to do the matting just get some backing boards (order from a local framer - get wholesale pricing if you are a professional photographer) and get bags like these
