I am about to purchase a new flash for a Nikon D300 and am having a time deciding if i should buy the SB600 or spend the additional 250.00 and buy the SB900. Is the upgrade worth the extra expense? I would really appreciate any opinions and input on this decision.

You must decide if the SB 900 is worth it-how often would you use it-Although it is best,if you have adequate conkers, to purchase a dedicated flash-but you are able to use after market ones- I have Starblitz BAZ 250's, and another I got from an online auction-all you need to watch for is that the trigger voltage for the flash doesn't stuff the camera's electronics. ( Under 7 volts is safe)

The SB 800 is much better than the SB60 and also much cheaper than the SB900.

I'd start off with the SB800, pleanty of power and features, just get to know it well then add to your flash collection.

Though the 250 extra is so worth it for the SB900, its a fantastic flash.
